Helping Hands –Therapeutic Social Skills Groups

Group therapy is a highly effective way to work through many types of life's challenges.  Support  groups offer each member individualized strategies to lessen the sense of isolation. The group becomes a "safe place" as social skills and communication patterns from real life are recreated within the therapy group where they can be explored safely, and new patterns of relating develop. Our groups are fluid and change to meet the needs of our group members. Whether the need is to improve social skills, manage anxiety or depression, learn coping skills, handle bullies, or to find peer support for a recent family struggle, a therapy group is right for you. The goals of these groups include but are not limited to:

  • Improving communication skills
  • Identifying and expressing feelings
  • Responding more effectively to both verbal and nonverbal social cues
  • Improving self-esteem
  • Active listening
  • Managing frustration and anger
  • Recognizing boundaries
  • Improving attention and focus
  • Self-control
