At Expressive Therapy Center, we are proud to offer well-trained therapists with degrees at the masters and/or the doctoral level. Our therapists come from a wide spectrum of counseling disciplines that include social work, psychiatric nursing, counseling psychology and clinical psychology, and have diverse areas of expertise, allowing ETC to treat clients with a broad variety of needs.

Stephanie Natter, M.A. ATR, CGP

Stephanie Natter is the founder and director of Expressive Therapy Center. She is a registered Art Therapist and Certified Group Psychotherapist who uses a family-centered approach in her treatment of children, adolescents and adults. Ms. Natter received her masters degree in Art Therapy from George Washington University.

Before opening the center, she had provided individual and group therapy services at well known institutions such as Chestnut Lodge Psychiatric Hospital, The Foundation School of Montgomery County, and the Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents.

Ms. Natter has provided weekly ongoing social skills groups for ages 4 - 18 since starting in private practice in 1996 in addition to individual and family psychotherapy. She holds an ATR certification granted by the American Art Therapy Credentials Board. She is also a certified group psychotherapist and is involved in training and supervising her colleagues. Ms. Natter is a member of the American Art Therapy Association, Group Psychotherapy Association, and the American Play Therapy Association.

Nanci Brown, LCSW-C.

Nanci Brown is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist with degrees from New York University. She is trained in yoga therapy and is skilled in both traditional as well as emerging psychotherapeutic techniques. Nanci works with children, adolescents, adults and couples on a variety of issues and has a wealth of private training with years of professional experience. She is able to tailor individual approaches to meet specific client needs. She has worked as a therapist and consultant for schools and firms in the DC metro and New York areas.
Her years of work in a private school setting treating adolescents with special emotional needs has provided her with a unique perspective on approaching teens. Additionally, Nanci is also interested in issues around post-partum and motherhood. Nanci prides herself on her approachability, her level of commitment and caring, and the individual attention that she is able to provide to her clients.

Mark Gallagher, Psy.D.

Dr. Mark Gallagher earned his masters degree in clinical psychology and his doctorate in clinical psychology from Loyola College. Dr. Gallagher has worked in the field of chemical dependency and is both a Certified Alcoholism Counselor and a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor.

Dr. Gallagher has worked in private practice providing neuropsychological and psychological-educational evaluations. In over 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Gallagher has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings and has provided individual, group, family and couples counseling. He has extensive experience working with ADHD, anger management, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, developmental disorders, depression, divorce and mediation.

At the Expressive Therapy Center he works with all ages providing individual, group, couples and family therapy.

Gerald D. Oster, Ph.D.

Dr. Oster has been a licensed psychologist for over twenty years working in a variety of inpatient hospitals and outpatient centers, including the UMAB Counseling Center and Montgomery General Hospital. He is a former Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Maryland Medical School, as well as past Director of Internship Training at RICA-Rockville.

Besides his clinical work, he has co-authored eight books on the topics of psychological assessment and testing, clinical uses of drawing, child psychotherapy, and teenage depression. Dr. Oster provides psychological and psychoeducational testing and evaluations.

Susan Rail, LCSW-C

Susan Rail is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has been working in the field for 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Maryland, College Park, and her Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Maryland at Baltimore.

Ms. Rail has extensive experience and expertise working with children, adolescents and their families in a variety of settings. She has worked in psychiatric inpatient, psychiatric day treatment, therapeutic foster care and school settings. For four years, she was the Clinical Director of Oakmont School, a therapeutic school for middle school and high school kids with emotional difficulties. She has been successful in helping parents as well as to help strengthen navigate the special education system in order to get their children's social, emotional, and academic needs met.

Ms. Rail has provided individual, group, and family therapy throughout her professional career. She has experience with issues related to depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, school problems, behavioral problems, social skills deficits, family problems, and attachment issues related to adoption and/or abuse/neglect backgrounds. In addition to helping kids be more successful in their lives, she believes in giving support and guidance to the parents, as well as to help strengthen their parenting skills in order to be more effective and successful with their children.

At the Expressive Therapy Center, she continues to work with children of all ages and provides individual, group, and family therapy, as well as parenting guidance and support.

Heather Norden, Psy.D.

Dr. Heather Norden is a clinical psychologist licensed to practice psychology in both Maryland and Virginia. She completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at George Washington University’s School of Professional Psychology with specialties in both child and adult therapeutic work. .

Dr. Norden has worked with children, adults, and families in the Fairfax County/Falls Church community mental health system providing long and short-term individual, group, and family therapy to clients ranging from toddlers to older adults. She has also provided parent training seminars, parent guidance, psychological assessments, and consultation to teachers. In addition, she has conducted therapeutic groups with children and adults including work in corroboration with the Fairfax County Grief Program.

At Expressive Therapy Center, Dr. Norden combines psychodynamic, behavioral and cognitive-behavioral techniques to provide individual and family therapy to children of all ages focusing on a range of difficulties including ADHD, mood and anxiety disorders as well as children coping with grief, trauma, chronic illness and other life stressors. She also provides social skills, life skills, and supportive groups for children and adolescents.

Jacy Perkins, APRN, PMH

Jacy Perkins is licensed as a Clinical Specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing as well as a Registered Nurse. She completed her education at Catholic University of America in 1994, and has served children and families ever since. At Children's National Medical Center, Ms. Perkins oversaw the Child and Adolescent Day Treatment Program. She also assisted in the assessment and diagnosis of patients, provided group, family and individual therapy, and worked with parents to develop behavior plans and contracts.

At Expressive Therapy Center, Ms. Perkins works with children, adolescent and adults individually as well as in group therapy settings.

Natalie Selzer, M.S.

Natalie Selzer received her B.A. Elementary Education from the University of Michigan and her M.S. in Clinical and Community Counseling from Johns Hopkins University.

Trained as both an elementary school teacher and school guidance counselor, Mrs. Selzer has extensive experience collaborating with children, parents, families, and school staff. In addition to her experience working in schools, Mrs. Selzer has also worked with children in a variety of settings including individual therapy sessions, social skills groups, and summer camp settings to address issues related to ADHD, social skills deficits, family challenges, sibling rivalry, grief and loss, communication skills, and self esteem. Mrs. Selzer has received training in play therapy and utilizes expressive therapies including art, writing, and drama within her sessions.

At the Expressive Therapy Center, Mrs. Selzer works with individuals of all ages and provides individual and group therapy, as well as parenting guidance and support.

Diana Sabados, ATR-BC, LCPC

Diana Sabados is a registered and board certified art therapist and licensed clinical professional counselor. She has experience working in psychoeducational, medical, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric, group home, recovery, and residential treatment settings as well as home-based services. Her area of special interest is working with children and adolescents who have experienced traumatic events and are dealing with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties as a result. Ms. Sabados’ theoretical orientation is person-centered, using a strengths-based and integrative approach.

Ms. Sabados has held several positions on the Board of the Potomac Art Therapy Association including President. She has served on the Conference Program and Ethics Committees of the American Art Therapy Association as well as Recorder for the Assembly of Chapters. In addition, she has served on and currently chairs the Certification Committee for the Art Therapy Credentials Board. As adjunct faculty for the George Washington University, she teaches students in the graduate art therapy program. She presents regularly at the annual conference of the American Art Therapy Association and provides post-graduate clinical supervision for professionals.

At the Expressive Therapy Center, Ms. Sabados works with individuals of all ages providing individual and group art therapy and counseling as well as parenting guidance and support.

Andree Schillesci, M.A., BC-DMT

Andree Schillesci is a Board Certified Dance Movement Therapist. Ms. Schillesci earned a Masters of Arts in Dance Movement Therapy from Goucher College and has worked with children, adolescents and their families for the past 20 years. She has extensive experience treating children in the spectrum areas of communication. In addition, Ms. Schillesci taught at Gallaudet University using dance/movement therapy to increase and integrate socialization skills among prelingually deaf children. She often incorporates sign language and nonverbal techniques as well as verbalization to enhance communication and interpersonal skills. Ms. Schillesci’s recent training will begin to engage yoga techniques in her practice with children and adults.

Laura Hamelin, LGPC

Laura Hamelin is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. She earned her B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, from Loyola University in Baltimore, MD. She then earned her M.S. in Clinical and Community Counseling, as well as a certificate in Play Therapy from Johns Hopkins University in Rockville, MD.

Ms. Hamelin has experience working with children and families in both outpatient and inpatient psychiatric settings, providing individual, group, and family therapy. Ms. Hamelin has specialized training in play therapy, grief and loss, trauma, and abuse.

At Expressive Therapy Center, Ms. Hamelin works with children and adolescents, ranging from ages 3 to 16, utilizing a combination of play, expressive, and talk therapies.

Daniel Wagner, Psy.D.

Dr. Wagner is a licensed psychologist in both Maryland and New York. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Long Island University/C.W. Post, and his B.A. in Theatre Arts from Brandeis University. Dr. Wagner has extensive experience treating children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in a variety of settings and for a multitude of presenting problems. Using primarily a Cognitive-Behavioral model with influences from other orientations, Dr. Wagner’s therapy includes coping skills training, mindfulness and relaxation, emotion management, social and interpersonal effectiveness skills, and other problem-solving strategies aimed at helping people gain more understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Dr. Wagner remains active in the research pertaining to Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and has presented a paper at a national conference on an assessment for impulsivity, emotion dysregulation, interpersonal chaos, and confusion about self.

At Expressive Therapy Center, he works with clients of all ages providing individual, group, couples, and family therapy.

Courtney Ferenz, Psy.D.

Dr. Courtney Ferenz is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families experiencing a range of difficulties including behavioral issues and emotional difficulties. In addition, she has experience treating adults with substance abuse and mental health issues. Dr. Ferenz earned her Doctoral Degree and Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University. During her clinical training, she worked in juvenile forensic settings and community mental health centers where she provided individual, family and group therapy, and assessed cognitive and psychological functioning of adolescents and young adults.

Dr. Ferenz completed her training at the Child Guidance Clinic at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and at a therapeutic day school which required significant expertise working with children aged 6 to 18 as well as their families. In both settings, Dr. Ferenz treated an ethnically and culturally diverse population as an individual and group therapist. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Virginia Psychological Association and she is recognized by the National Register of Health Care Providers in Psychology.

At the Expressive Therapy Center, Dr. Ferenz works with school-aged children and adolescents with learning, emotional, and behavioral difficulties, and with adults who present with concerns related to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, addiction, and stress management. She offers individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy, and parent consultation. Dr. Ferenz makes every attempt to promote a warm and welcoming environment for her clients.

Theresa Schill, Psy.D.

Dr. Schill received her Psy.D in Clinical Psychology from The American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Washington, DC. She has worked in a variety of settings, including private practice, psychological assessment, and community mental health. Dr. Schill completed her training at The Village for Families and Children in Hartford, CT. At the Expressive Therapy Center, she provides group and individual therapy. Dr. Schill has had extensive training in treating children and their families. She has experience with play therapy, art therapy, and ABA techniques. Her clinical work has focused on issues related to trauma (physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, as well as environmental trauma), grief, divorce, social skills, and autism spectrum disorders.
